Introdans dances as never before. Introdans, consisting of two ensembles, has grown into a top dance company since it began in 1971 and the company remains true to its mission to present high quality dance to a broad public. It presents a varied and attractive modern ballet repertoire with the Canon of Introdans™ and as the city of Arnhem’s flagship company, Introdans performs in theatres throughout the Netherlands and the world. Both ensembles are frequent guests on international stages and H.R.H. Princess Margriet of the Netherlands is Introdans’ patron.
Introdans presents modern ballet performances on the themes old masters, contemporary partners and new talent. Various choreographers create ballets for Introdans which combine classical elements and modern techniques.
Introdans Ensemble for Youth selects its repertoire from the Introdans Treasure Chest™, which includes work especially created for the ensemble. The Introdans Ensemble for Youth occupies a unique position in Europe, being the only dance company in Europe to present modern ballet performances for children.
Introdans Interaction works in schools and in many other environments, serving both young and old. The department provides a broad range of educational activities, day projects, interactive workshops and opportunities to look behind the scenes – all linked to the themes to be found in the repertoire of both ensembles.
Internationalisation is one of the key points in the Introdans mission. Introdans has a growing number of productions on international stages and festivals and the company is regularly invited to accompany the Royal family on state visits.
Introdans performs regularly in Belgian and German theatres and has visited the International Festival of Music and Dance in Bangkok, Thailand and various venues in South Africa. Other highlights are the repeated invitations for the Introdans Ensemble for Youth to perform at the Bank of Scotland International Children’s Theatre Festival in Edinburgh, the STEPS Festival in Switzerland and at The New Victory Theater on Broadway, New York.
